European Superhighway

The Yusen Logistics European Pharmaceutical Superhighway, developed over the past 20 years, provides cross border temperature controlled coverage on a true pan-European basis, offering the option of multi-client consolidation and shared-user transport wherever possible and acceptable.

The Superhighway is based on a strategic network of specialist pharmaceutical hubs that consolidate and cross-dock product for onward delivery throughout Western and Eastern Europe and beyond. Our key GDP temperature controlled hubs in Antwerp, Belgium and Northampton UK also manage global inbound/outbound shipments by air and sea.

Control Tower Management

Superhighway movements are managed by the Yusen Logistics Control Tower that provides aerial views across Europe, whatever the origin or destination. This allows centralised planning of pan-European transport movements to maximise vehicle utilisation, minimise empty running, reduce pallet costs and achieve environmental benefits, whilst ensuring product integrity at all times.

Using a combination of own resources and those of fully audited and approved haulier partners, Yusen Logistics provides solutions to highly complex supply chain requirements. All vehicles used are temperature controlled (for both ambient and cold chain products), GPS tracked with remote temperature monitoring and operating to GDP guidelines, ensuring safe transit and delivery of all products. Annually around one million pallets are managed within this network for both major global manufacturers and small biotech companies.

For controlled drugs and narcotics there are additional controls in place to ensure safe delivery, including dedicated solutions for a single pallet upwards where required.

The fleet expansion policy into greater use of dual temperature, double-deck trailers continues to contribute towards improved load-fill and cost-down solutions for all our clients.

Through the Control Tower, we offer a single centre to manage global air and sea freight movements together with a full range of customs and fiscal services, linking into our offices around the world.

Centres of Excellence for Consolidation and Storage

Yusen Logistics operates secure pharmaceutical warehousing space in both dedicated and shared-user facilities which conform to GDP guidelines. Our key operations are in Antwerp and Northampton and they provide a full range of services to pharmaceutical companies of all sizes.

Equipped with state-of-the-art hard and software, these facilities offer quality assured, high security temperature controlled storage solutions (2^oC/8^oC & 15^oC/25^oC) in line with current European legislation. Both sites offer bonded services, VAT deferment and are AEO certified for air cargo shipments.  Added value services include:
